The space

A new listing from experienced Superhosts – we are excited to introduce The Waterfall House 10/01/2024!

A beautiful “Blue Ridge Parkway”-esq drive through a 3,000+ acre gated community invites you to our family’s private nature park – offering an experience you will talk about for year’s to come.

THE PROPERTY
You’ll enter through a gated driveway, meandering to the center of the 33-acre nature park. You are greeted by our most loved feature – a 110′ natural waterfall, rivaling the best in North Carolina – which has long been a secret from the world, hidden on this private property.

A 50ft bridge overlooking the waterfall will guide you to a romantic cabin, and serves as the starting point to an extensive hiking trail system throughout the park.

While navigating miles of connecting trails – you’ll explore scenic overlooks, historic moonshine sites, and picturesque scenes along our mountain creek – where you will discover several waterfalls, natural swimming holes, ancient trees, picnic areas, and more.

For renewable energy and off-grid enthusiasts – you can enjoy the opportunity to educate yourself on how it all works – with fully functioning hydroelectric (microhydro) and solar power system, and over 11,000 gallons per day of pure natural spring water, providing our water & electric resources.

THE CABIN
Romantic bridges overlooking the falls will lead you to a romantic cabin, nestled on an outcropping directly along the main 110′ waterfall, and surrounded by nature’s beauty.

A 360-degree wrap around porch invites you to view the waterfall from above – while enjoying a morning coffee, grilling out for dinner, or relaxing to a glass of wine to the sound of falling water.

Inside, you’re welcomed to a cozy and rustic vibe, with handmade log furniture, and everything a guest needs for a memorable stay.

The kitchen offers a refrigerator/freezer, an electric stovetop, a 13-in-1 double oven/air fryer/toaster appliance, kuerig coffee maker, crock-pot, and all standard cookware and utensils. A propane grill can be used to prepare the perfect meal.

The bedroom features a king-size bed & Smart TV – with a dedicated AC, to ensure comfort while winding down to the sounds of falling water outside.

In our loft, you will find a custom antique desk – where you can set up your laptop in a separated working area (though, we hope you don’t have to work while you are here).

For a rainy day – don’t let “off-grid” mislead your expectations! Internet via Starlink offers in-cabin streaming & entertainment options – and nearby towns offer much to do.

LOCATION AND NEIGHBORHOOD
Located in the gated community of Buck Mountain in Purlear, NC; 25-45min from several famous NC towns – including Boone, West Jefferson, and Wilkesboro – and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Buck Mountain neighborhood offers many additional hiking trails, a stocked fishing pond, picnic areas, scenic overlooks, a separate 70ft waterfall open to the community, outdoor concerts, and more – which are available to guests.

Other things to note

Due to the unique nature of the property – we have a few important considerations.

*Guests should arrange daytime arrival (no check-in after dark). We offer early-check in to accommodate.
*Property access requires the ability to climb stairs, and to navigate uneven terrain. It is not suitable for physically disabled individuals, or individuals with limited mobility.
